
Our high-quality personalized education is reflected in the accomplishments of our alumni. The College of Idaho has produced more Rhodes Scholars, Marshall Scholars, Goldwater Scholars, Pulitzer Prize winners, governors, scientists, Oscar winners, and national business leaders than any other institution in Idaho (by percentage of graduates).
Our alumni include Joe Albertson, who built one of the greatest commercial enterprises in the history of this country, Dr. Mary Shorb, who co-discovered vitamin B-12, and Klaus Scharioth, German ambassador to the United States. Idaho Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter is a C of I alumnus, along with former Idaho Gov. Robert Smylie and former Oregon Gov. Elmo Smith. Idaho Supreme Court Justice Warren E. Jones is an alumnus, along with retired Idaho Supreme Court Justice Gerald Schroeder
The C of I’s current students and our recent graduates will become state and national leaders as well. Our students are accepted into medical school at almost twice the rate of students from other Idaho colleges and universities. Our students are more likely to be accepted into the University of Idaho’s law school than students from Idaho’s other colleges and universities. In the last three years, our graduates have been accepted into some of the nation’s most prestigious law schools and graduate programs including those at Harvard, Yale, Georgetown and Northwestern.
C of I students are accepted into medical school and other highly competitive graduate programs at twice the rate of students from other Idaho institutions.
C of I students are highly successful at Idaho’s law college.

Many C of I students choose law schools other than the University of Idaho, but the American Bar Association does not track information in a way to make statistically verifiable comparisons.
The C of I consistently produces outstanding students who are recognized nationally and internationally for their academic achievements. Students from The College of Idaho complete doctoral degrees at two to four times the rate of graduates from Idaho public universities.
